Twelve live podcasts in three nights! The 1st annual Philadelphia Podcast Festival is coming to entertain through podcasting. The festival takes place Thursday, August 1st through Saturday, August 3rd at PhilaMOCA. Friday, August 2nd at 2pm, stop by PhillyCAM for panel discussions and workshops in the afternoon hosted by Geekadelphia’s Jo Pincushion.
“We are both big podcast fans. We realized that other major cities were starting podcast festivals and knew that Philadelphia has a thriving podcasting community,” says Teagan Keating, co-Organizer of Philadelphia Podcast Festival along with Nathan Kuruna. “The goal of the festival is to help build community by connecting podcasters with each other, connecting listeners to the people who produce their favorite shows, and teaching anyone who wants to learn about the medium how to get started.”
When asked what can people attending the podcasts and workshops expect to learn, Keating says, “the workshop/panel discussion will explain ‘What the heck is podcasting?,’ why independent media is important, how a person or organization can get started podcasting, and a panel discussion with seasoned podcast hosts. We hope that anyone thinking about starting their own show will be able to learn from these experts.”
Talking Nerdy, Talkadelphia, Sex with Timaree, The Pincushion, Potent Brew, Comedy Food Sports, Trailer Trash, Rep Radio, Gettin’ Close, Podcheese, Storyshuffle, and Stark Raven Mad are participating podcasts.
