The multi-genre adult alternative festival, The Twisted World, is coming to its new home in the Philadelphia area for its 2nd annual convention. Three days of fantasy, fun,and fulfillment will take place from March 28-30 at the Valley Forge, PA DoubleTree.
This year’s Twisted World convention’s theme is Villains and Vixens and it will surely bring out the scandalous and mysterious nature in everyone. There will never be a dull moment at the convention with everything from avant garde bands, performances, writers, artist, vendors, and much more. There will even be a dungeon sponsored by The Aviary. Costumes are encouraged and prizes given to the most creative.
Tim Gunter, owner of Red Falcon Armouries and creator of The Twisted World, talked to us about why he created the convention, what he expects for this year’s event, and why people should let down their guard and check it out. It’s interesting to hear the story about how the idea came about and where it’s headed in the future.
“We make leather wear from armour to clothing and everything in between at Red Falcon. We would go to many different festivals and conventions from Medieval fairs, anime conventions, and comic cons as a vendor. I thought, ‘wouldn’t it be cool to combine all of these elements into one place’? I wanted to make a multi-genre convention where all of these things can co-exist.” And that is how it all came about. A awesome idea with a amazing result!
The first convention, The Twisted World: Divine Decadence, took place last year in Somerset, NJ. “We moved the location to the Philadelphia area for a more central area where everyone would be able to get to us,” Gunter explains. “Last year was great but this year we are expecting a larger turn out with great guest, vendors, and amusements everyone is sure to love. You will see every kind of costume there. There could be a fairy standing next to steampunk, next to a zombie, next to anything!” That description alone is enough to bring people out. All they ask is that everyone is 18+, respectful of convention space, and follow attendee guidelines.
With all that will be going on at the convention it is best that you get as educated about the event prior to showing up. Be creative- properly prepare for your trip to the convention, your costume, and appropriate attire. Come with a open mind and ready to have fun.
