Up and coming pop artist, Winona Oak is thrilled to share her new EP Closure out now on Neon Gold Records. The 6-song set opens with the track “He Don’t Love Me”, a pop/dance song that speaks on the end of a relationship and not being in love with a significant other. Oak’s vocals are raspy, raw, and sophisticated. The track opens with a unique rhythm, then as she sings the beats jump in, and that’s where the electronic/EDM elements/beats creep in. I think this track definitely has the potential to become a song people would want to remix.
I love Oak’s vocals on the next track “Break My Broken Heart.” They are a little bit haunting, a little bit smokey, and all uniquely hers. The chorus brings in jangly, shimmery synths paired with stellar beats layered over her vocals. This song reminds me of one I’d put on a night driving playlist or when spending time walking through a city at night. To me, it just has that kind of vibe.
The track “Control” is a danceable, upbeat song about a new relationship and having that strong connection or strong sexual connection where a person is just completely irresistible to all control in your mind and body. The chorus is catchy and has a stellar beat (I found myself bopping my head along to the music).
On “Lonely Hearts Club”, the track opens with Oak’s smokey vocals about people who are lonely and spend time looking for love in the clubs. The upbeat song complements the rest of the EP. This song is ironic because it’s more upbeat, but speaks upon people being sad and lonely.
“Let Me Know”, a beautiful song about the ups and downs of young love. Oak’s angelic, breathy vocals are the perfect accompaniment to the melody on the keys. The song is an indie-pop/synth-pop lover’s dream.
The final track on the EP is “Another Story.” I love the storyline behind the song “Another Story” because it talks about being in a relationship a young age, thinking he loves you, but wanting to start another story, another chapter in your life.
Overall, this EP is terrific. Oak’s vocals paired with the uniqueness of each track have a great deal of promise.
