Young Blame

OK Go and The Shins had a love child!
The Tins have an almost perfect EP on their hands. If not for a few muddled hits and a few unsupported notes this would have been completely enjoyable. They really do sound like a perfect mix of the Shins’ ethereal, harmony driven indie-pop sound mixed with grounded, creative percussion and pleasant male vocals a la OK Go.
The last track on the album, “Sylvia, Before the End”, is definitely the most well composed and orchestrated of the four new tracks. The Tins incorporate an organ and some orchestra pads, as well as multiple lead singers to bring multiple layers into one lovely texture. Each song on the album will have you tapping your toes and swaying from side to side because they are enjoyable songs even with the few flaws they contain. “Let It Go” is by far the most underdeveloped of the album, containing the confused hits and some questionable vocals. If you can make it past the first track on Young Blame, it only gets better from there!
Young Blame is an apt title, because if anything I would say to watch out for where this band will be five years from now. With a little more conditioning and mastery under their belts, The Tins will be a force to be reckoned with!
