Sick, funky, groovy, tight. It is difficult to find fault with Reverend TJ McGlinchey. “Tell Me to Stay” is an expertly crafted album fusing together the forces of blues, country, rock, jazz, Americana, and even a little calypso. If it were not for a few slower moments, this would be a nonstop musical thrill ride. Of course, the quiet spaces are only difficult because they create so much suspense for whatever may be around the corner. The Reverend has converted me. Let’s hope he is a permanent fixture in Philadelphia music.
