Lindsey Saunders is a young, country-tinged singer-songwriter with a rapidly growing audience. Saunders bases her songs around her powerful voice and deft acoustic guitar, but the rich and propulsive drum, bass and electric guitar backing provided by Dean T. Maltese, Sean Blanchard, and James Christopher contributes to the sound immensely. Belying her age, there is a rare maturity and refinement to the 20 year old Saunders’ music, and she is supremely gifted both as a songwriter and as a performer.
Following her breakthrough EP Nothing Normal, Lindsey Saunders traveled across the country, both solo and with her band, playing shows and accruing fans in 13 states at such high-profile events as SXSW in Austin and New York City’s CMJ Music Marathon. Now, she prepares to showcase a new side of her artistry with the release of “Miles Before Sleep,” a brand new instrumental suite comprised of music that she originally composed for dance.
2014 will see the Denver-based Saunders sharing her music with a wider audience than ever before, and an upcoming stop in Philly is an exciting prospect. Saunders will play here on Tuesday, September 2nd, at The Grape Room, located at 105 Grape Street in Manayunk.
