All We’ve Known

Haux’s Woodson Black blends a healthy amount of modern electronic beats with an alternative flair on the EP, All We’ve Known. The EP stirs together a unique set of electronic beats combined with alternative, raw emotion.
The five-song EP opens with the track “Homegrown,” a cohesive mix of the modern beats from electronic artists like M83 to the emotional vocals and rawness of Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon. He sings “You were a shadow / And I let you in the shade / I was still running / From all of my mistakes…”
On “Seaside,” Black deliver a hauntingly personal song through layering his calm perspective with modern electronic beats. He sings “Make for the seaside / Run till our lungs cave in / Tell all of our worst lines / Wait till they sink or swim…” He sings from a perspective of someone that has made that leap into the fog and giving himself up to the whatever the future holds.
The track, “Caves,” is probably my favorite on the EP. It has a very mellow, yet haunting vibe to it as Black sings “It’s when you’re tongue tied / It’s when you can’t hide / You follow the waves / You follow the waves from the caves…”
Overall, Black creates a hauntingly personal collection of songs on All We’ve Known that takes the listener away to a dreamlike state. All We’ve Known is a collection of beautiful songs with reverb drenched guitars, calming vocals, and raw emotion that the listener can relate to.
If further Haux releases are anything like this one, Black is bound to have a blossoming career.
