Handguns
Angst
Reviewed by Chris Panico
Angst, the new album by Harrisburg pop-punk band, Handguns, is a twelve-track experience inside walls of distorted guitars and pounding, energetic drums. The band definitely brought the energy and sound that makes pop-punk what it is. However, their new record does little to define them in any unique way from their peers. From song to song there is little variation in melodic content, and few of the lines are distinct enough to be considered catchy. Cliché lyrics are consistent throughout the album as well, with lines such as “Did you find what you’ve been looking for/Or are you still in search of something more” accounting for most of the content. Though not an all-around bad album, Angst fails to distinguish itself from the vast crowd of pop-punk music out there.
