Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Crimzn has spent over eight years crafting his lyrical style. Much of the influence came from when he lived in South Philly and Birmingham, Alabama. Despite being a hip hop artist, interestingly enough his musical beginnings spawned from the hardcore scene where he was part of the former bands XscrapX, Subsist, and The Eyes Of.
Though they went their separate ways, Crimzn continued on with his passionate love for music and honed his lyrical skills. For Crimzn, the transition from hardcore to hip-hop was not that difficult because prior to the transition he had been incorporating hip-hop into the music he and his hardcore band made for a metalcore sound. The band fell apart but it paved way for Crimzn’s future in hip-hop music with a twist of hardcore. Though the term hip-hop is generally considered mainstream, Crimzn can in no way be defined by these parameters. His musical influences, Technine and Immortal Technique, reflect the unique style and message he promotes: rapping against the system, as he is not a particular fan of the government. In addition, he combines his previous experience with his past hardcore bands into his current hip-hop music for a fusion of innovative delivery and writing style. Though he doesn’t produce his own beats, he does get help from Odin Smith from Philadelphia, DJ Ransom from Scranton, PA, Snuffbeats from Germany, broT from Birmingham, Alabama, Casacas from England, and Colosvs from Madrid, Spain. His lyrics are more than enough to shine through.
Currently, he is working on releasing a new album online called “I am thA AnimAtion” and physically distributing it for promotional purposes. The recording process is done and only the mixing process is left. For Crimzn, the recording process has been relatively easy and he continues to write every single night and day. Various collaborations on the album include with ILL Malatta, Tommy Flannels from Unstable Minds, and Kanobi. Next, he plans to collaborate with close friend Adlib from Philadelphia.
One of the central purposes of this album is for the listeners to become familiar with Crimzn and his style. As such, most of the songs will be solo tracks. He considers this album to be more personal than his past mixtape called KILL-aborations in which every single song track consisted of collaborations. This summer, he is also looking to stir interest among labels so he can hopefully be signed.
As Crimzn says, “Everybody who likes hip-hop with dope lyrical content and innovative structures, they need to cop this.” Look out for Crimzn’s wicked new album. It will set the hip-hop scene ablaze this summer.
