Red Earth & Pouring Rain

Bear’s Den’s new album Red Earth & Pouring Rain is a journey through the heart of two very talented men. The band consists of Andrew Davie (lead vocals, electric guitar, and acoustic guitar) and Kevin Jones (vocals, drums, bass, and guitar). “Red Earth & Pouring Rain” kicks off the album with a epic-sounding rhythmic drum beat, and passionate lyrics.
Originally from Britain, Davie and Jones have created a concise album that works as a whole in ways that remind me of a novel. Red Earth & Pouring Rain is it’s own world and atmosphere. Although each song adds something important to the album, it is clear that they all work together as one cohesive family of songs. Yet, instead of bloodline keeping them together, they are held together with a silver lining that is intangible yet clearly there.
Bear’s Den begins their album with some high-energy songs, than take an artful pause starting with their song “Roses on a Breeze”. When the band strips down their music they manage to do so without letting go of their energy. This song is solemn and heart breaking with the repeating lines, “I still believe/That you’ll always be/That you’ll always be/The love of my life”. Davie’s voice is heart breaking and honest both in their slower and faster songs.
Bear’s Den will be touring both the US and Europe beginning in September. Don’t miss their show in Philadelphia on September 16th at MilkBoy.
