Los Angeles-based rocker Eddy Yang shares his debut LP, American Glory, which opens with the first single, “On Our Way (Into The Night)”. The song is about getting in your car, driving, and escaping your hometown and your past. Yang says, “It’s about finding your own path in life.”
American Glory is a genre-bending record that features hints of classic rock, electronic, and even some hip-hop beats, to create a sound that only Yang could create.
On “Chasing Something”, Yang sings about chasing things in life: “We walk the path the same/we feel alone today/feels like we’re always chasing something/we’re reaching for a hand/can you ever understand/feels like we’re always chasing something, yeah/one day/I will remember what you say to me/just wait/our time is coming round here…“
“Rock N Roll Legends” is a fun song about becoming a rock ‘n roll star.
“I wanna be a rock ‘n roll legend
I wanna be the best
I wanna be a rock ‘n roll legend
I wanna get out of here
We’re gonna be rock ‘n roll legends”
The song “Revolutionaries” opens with rhythmic drum pads, adds in some truly electrifying guitars. The song is about the state of our society with all the shootings that are taking place, the political state of our country and creating a revolution.
The 12-song set continues with another track, “Lost In Your Surrender”, a raw, angsty alt-rock song that features Yang’s lyrics about love and relationships.
“I wonder where you are/don’t hide your love/I don’t wanna wait forever/we will fall away/we’re holding on now/we’re burning through/the night again /we found a way /we’re now lost in your surrender/lost in your surrender…”
-Eddy Yang, “Lost In Your Surrender”
For a debut, Yang created a raw, lo-fi record that illustrates the emotions, experiences, and passions that drive him to create the music from this record.
