The time has come for Philadelphia to get to know The Second Advance. Hailing from southern Connecticut, this up-and-coming Alternative/Punk/Rock band brings a youthful and refreshing sound that stands out among the copycats of this genre.
Although currently unsigned, these guys are seasoned rockers and have been drawing crowds across New England for the past five years. Last year, I heard them for the first time at a live show in my area and I’ve been hooked ever since. Having always been very picky about local bands, I generally don’t pay too much attention if one of them just happens to be playing where I just happen to be drinking. But The Second Advance turned my head with the first song and kept me listening until the last without a hint of disappointment… That’s huge. And that’s why I’m so excited to spread the word about them and the recent release of their sophomore album, “What it Means to Be Human”.
This album, along with their first full-length album (“Hollywood”), is currently available for download on iTunes. If you’re a fan of bands like Sum 41, New Found Glory or Blink 182, you will love The Second Advance and how they breathe some much-needed new life into the world of alt. punk rock.
