Rising indie-pop-rock band, Between Kings, are thrilled to release their brand new ‘Antidote’ EP today via The Regime. The four-song EP, produced by Jimmy Messer [AWOLNATION, Kygo, Kelly Clarkson], opens with the band’s current radio single, “Antidote.”
The single, “Antidote,” takes a non-judgemental stance on mental health and how people cope with the endless pressures of today’s modern society. The song talks about mental health in a real way.
“Bad For Me” is a song about knowing someone is bad for you, but for some unbeknownst reason, you can’t get enough of this person. “Lost for words, I don’t know how you make me feel this way/girl, you take my breathe away, tonight…”
After just listening to “Antidote,” you realize that Between Kings has “something.” Their songs are diverse, beautiful, appropriate, and full of potential. Their music is familiar enough but original in its delivery, lyricism, and characteristics. These songs are 100 percent able to be played on alternative radio. Radio 104.5 would be an outlet where you’d hear these songs.
The ballad, “Show Me What It’s Like To Love,” is a beautiful song about two people interested in each other. “So stay with me tonight/we can set this world on fire/run away with me tonight/we can leave this world behind us…”
The final song on the EP is a real rock track with lots of attitude, “Too Young To Give A Fuck.” The band also released the music video for “Too Young To Give a Fuck” alongside their EP release. Honestly, this song is just simply fun. Not only is it appropriate for their age, but it’s also just a fun pop-punk anthem.
I can’t wait to hear what is next for Between Kings. Unfortunately, they had planned to release a full-length on April 24, but with the current state of the world, they wanted to at least get the music they had finished, out to the fans. So that is where the Antidote EP came from. They do still plan on an LP, though.
Between Kings is Jayden Marsh, Nic Machuca, Jordan Coyne, and Nick Fanning.
