Time to get excited! As if the idea of a comic book convention was not exciting enough, Wizard World’s new announcement will blow your mind, and your ears will be more than pleased. With a lineup that includes John Cena, Sheamus, Chris Evans, Tom Hiddleston, Michael J. Fox, and Haylay Atwell, between others, The Wizard World Comic Con was already expected to be one to remember. Add the first ever music series to accompany a comic convention festival to the equation and you get something close to perfection.
The Wizard World Concert Series is set to debut in Philadelphia this June, and it is the explosive Claire Boucher, aka Grimes, who has been chosen to open up this party. If you’ve heard of her, I bet you have no doubt picturing the eccentric, unconventional woman rocking the world of the peculiar comic fanatics.
“I like going crazy. And not just for art – I like extremes in general”, Grimes once said in an interview with The List. Much like a modern Alice in Wonderland, Grimes makes the most exciting pop in today’s music and is, in my opinion, the perfect match for this fun-filled event.
Boucher will perform at the Electric Factory, on June 3rd. For non-initiated people, you should know that a Grimes show is like no other. Pop, electronica, hip-hop, R&B and many more are all blended for an electrifying and busting performance. Her shows have received reviews that mentioned an exuberant live force, a strong artistic commitment, and, usually, a flat out triumph. Isn’t that enough to convince you to come and see that lady in the flesh?
It’s no surprise that the artist has received praise from many, including The New York Times, that ranked her last studio album, Art Angel, as one of the “Best Albums of 2015”. No big deal, right? Alternative pop singer HANA will be opening for Grimes at the Electric Factory, which makes a provocative and explosive duo for an out-of-this world evening.
“Wizard World Comic Con already presents the best in celebrity meet and greets, movies, television, science fiction and comics and we believe that including music is the next logical progression to provide a great experience for our fans,” said COO Randy Malinoff. Bringing top, breakout music talents to several cities, including our own, Wizard World, already the predominant producer of Comic Cons across the country, is sure to confirm its leadership position.
Comic fans and music aficionados alike can share this fun-filled evening. “These live music events are a key component to the continued growth of our brand,” Malinoff adds. “We’re excited to present the concert series debut with Grimes, and to bring our fans the latest and best headliners and emerging musical talent nationwide.”
Known for events that celebrate pop culture, gaming and technology, Wizard World will soon be known as the ones who brought to you one of the most exciting show of the year. Don’t miss out on this one!
