The independent band, WHOOP-szo, shares its brand new single, “Amaruq”. This track was dedicated to the Inuit Village that birthed WHOOP-szo.
WHOOP-szo recognizes the indigenous people of America and explains that what was taught in history books about indigenous people is not the “reality of the indigenous experience.” They live in cities, have to drive cars, and do many of the same things that we all have to do to survive.
The track “Amaruq” was named after the remote, fly-in community of Salluit, Quebec’s local high school.
The music video for the song summarizes the band’s thoughts, feelings, and emotions that appear on the band’s forthcoming full-length, Warrior Down.
