After deciding not to jeopardize the show by confronting a girl hoarding slices of the pizza, the guys of The Parachuting Apostles were introduced to me by their goofy, yet well-mannered manager. We found a vacant corner at the RAW event and the boys explained a little bit about themselves.
The performance itself did seem quite staged, as if they rehearsed every movement, but this was later explained to me that being guys from the Paul Green School of Rock, they took classes on things like that. They would not be the band they are without the school they implied, going on to say they would have never even heard of legends like Zappa without the help of the school. The Parachuting Apostles have been playing together since they were fifteen and held a strong relationship through music. The chemistry the band feels with each other keeps the band wanting to progress.
The Parachuting Apostles have been referred to as a plethora of different genres, depending on who you ask- so I asked them. After a few minutes of going through the motions, trying to relate themselves to relevant bands, (Soundgarden being one of them) they concluded with “hard rock”. I could tell they were all very different guys just by how they each individually presented themselves, but that was confirmed when they mentioned how different their musical tastes are and how they wanted to combine them, which was how their sound was developing over time. They did admit to still trying to find a way to combine their different tastes into a sound that would draw people to invest in them.
So what’s next for the guys of the Parachuting Apostles? They’ll be taking some time to work on EPs. They went on to explain that they did not want to put out a full length until they narrowed their sound down to something that works for them and also has the ability to make them successful.
