The rising 19-year-old pop artist, Griff, releases her newest pop song, “Black Hole,” via Warner Records. The release of “Black Hole” is the beginning of an excellent 2021 for Griff, as she was named to the BBC’s prestigious Sound of 2021 poll and named an Artist to Watch by Amazon UK, MTV UK, ELLE UK and more.
“I wrote this song as a bittersweet heartbreak track,” says the multi-hyphenated singer, producer, and DIY fashion designer. “I actually love how melodramatic it is, as there’s obviously not ‘a big black hole where my heart used to be,’ but the melodrama of the lyrics – over a really interesting beat – keeps the song fun, and not too serious.”
Born to Chinese and Jamaican parents just outside of Watford, England, Griff started her musical journey by creating music on her brother’s Logic, teaching herself how to produce music in secret from her classmates (many of which found out later on when they heard her on the radio).
It’s evident that Griff has the type of personality, the curiosity, and creative control, that creates no boundaries when it comes to making music, creating her own clothes, or any other creative endeavor. Griff is bound to become huge ~ it’s just a matter of time.
