I made “do not trust people who do not like food” one of my #1 rules. Because let’s be honest: who could possibly dislike it? On March 31st, stop by the Academy of Natural Sciences to experience the Philly Restaurant Festival – “an opportunity for consumers to really get intimate with some amazing restaurants that makes up our wonderful city,” as organizer Ray Sheehan likes to say.
This is a food festival where you can experience the vibrant local restaurant scene at the Academy of Natural Sciences. It’s the perfect opportunity to spend a fun and delicious night, featuring some of the best Philadelphia-based restaurants. Enjoy DJ & live entertainment, handcrafted food, distinguished drinks, beers and cocktails – all at a more than affordable price. Why spend the money on a dinner out somewhere when you can come to the museum and sample all of Philadelphia? You’ll be living the “food connoisseur’s dream”!
“We just thought ‘what a better way to spend the day than with food, at a museum, with amazing entertainment, that turns into a party’, (which is unusual for) a museum,” says Sheehan. “From the consumers’ perspective, it will be very unique.”
Get up close and personal with Philadelphia favorites Bourbon Blue, Milkboy, Alma Mater, or Spirit of Philadelphia, along performers DJ Joe Broscoe, and Tim Williams, as well as the world-famous, gigantic, Tyrannosaurus Rex. “We wanted to create something that was unique, and what’s a better place than having the consumers go through this culinary journey, but also though this journey back through time at the Academy of Natural Sciences,” explains Sheehan.
Of course, Sheehan does not forget to mention the charities they support through this event. He says his number one goal obviously is to make sure the guests have a good time, but it is also very important to do good while having a good time. He says: “Come out, have a good time; it is a celebration of food, but we are also supporting some amazing charities that deal with a lot of food-related issues in the city.”
Supporting a total of seven charities (The Food Trust, Philabundance, St. Christopher’s Foundation for Children, The Common Market, The Greater Philadelphia Coalition Against Hunger, The SHARE Food Program, Fair Food Philly) the Philadelphia Restaurant Festival is eager to support local charity effort and will donate a portion of the proceeds to each of those organizations.
A must-go for any food-lover.
