Memorial Day Weekend will be packed with things to do in Philadelphia, but the festivities will start early this year with the PHAIR 3-Day Artisan Market at OVAL. The festival, located at Eakins Oval in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, will take place from Thursday, May 22nd, through Saturday, May 24th. The event will involve music, food, and much more, offering a perfect way to ease into the weekend with outdoor evening shopping and entertainment. The music will range from DJs such as DJ Apt One and DJ Danophonic Dan, to live jazz from The New Sound Brass Band and Daud El-Baraka. The festival also offers a variety of food trucks, family activities, and, of course, wine and cider from Frecon Farms and Victory Brewpub.
The main attractions, however, are the market vendors presented by the PHAIR organization. Describing themselves as fostering “a community of art, handmade, vintage, and food artisans,” PHAIR is providing a space for vendors offering a variety of goods. You’ll find items ranging from jewelry (Adorned by Aisha and Chandra Jewelry) and pottery (Mud & Maker) to food (sausages from Hocks n Coqs) and clothing (men’s fashion from Fairwear), and more.
Although the festival is only held in the coming days, PHAIR also hosts weekly Saturday market events from 10 AM to 5 PM at 2nd and Lombard Streets. These events may be smaller, but they offer an enticing opportunity for shoppers to sample the art and food that Philly’s craft communities have to offer. For more information on PHAIR, visit http://phillyphair.com, and follow them on Twitter at https://twitter.com/phillyphair. The festival will take place from 5 PM to 9 PM on Thursday and Friday, and from 12 PM to 7 PM on Saturday. It promises to be the perfect place to spend the cooler evening hours as this Memorial Day Weekend begins.
