These City Limits is an alternative rock band made up of friends Randy Vanderbilt, Brian Nichols, Adam Wilson and Andrew Hibdon. They are just starting out making music altogether and are hoping to release a new album in the middle of this year- they start recording this month. “We’ve been writing recently and we’ve wrote about 16 songs. We’re thinking of including 12 songs and then including a B-side. We all really like all of the songs so it’s hard to decide which ones to include,” says Vanderbilt.
Throughout their music careers separately These City Limits have 45 years of performance experience. All four members began playing music in rock bands at some point in their lives. Vanderbilt became tired of metal and started a rock band. Nichols started playing guitar 20 years ago. Wilson started playing drums back in junior high and joined a band after college didn’t work out. Hibdon played heavier music in another band but then decided to take a break. Once he missed playing he ended up joining These City Limits. “After all of our experiences, coming into a band that we could feel comfortable with and getting each other on the same page is just great. We’re all on the same page and we’re able to make music,” says Hibdon.
Along with their new album full of great music, the band can’t wait to start touring and performing beyond Indianapolis. “We haven’t ventured out in Chicago yet and we haven’t made it too far because we haven’t built our music up yet. We’ll start booking shows soon and hopefully mid-spring we’ll go from focusing on recording to live shows,” says Nichols.
These City Limits describe their live shows simply as “five guys on stage”. They’re building their light show to try to bring some energy- they hope to make the fans move and make their shows intense. “We want to make you feel violated. I hope we sound good live, too. We want to be high energy, interesting and just sound great! We’ll be professional-not mess around and [we’ll] have a great time,” says Vanderbilt.
The band’s old demo is currently available on their bandcamp page. “It’s $1 but you can pay more than that. It’s a great opportunity to give our music out and pass it on. We love talking to fans we want everyone to enjoy it too,” says Wilson.
