Lost In The Dream
Reviewed by: Sebastian Mackay
Front-man and lyricist Adam Granduciel has dug deeper into himself than ever before. The result is an album that is at times lonely and brooding but, contradictorily enough, also a collection of songs that are uplifting. Granduciel has pushed himself lyrically to expose more of his inner thoughts and feelings. “Red Eyes” is the album’s perfect balance. A touch melancholic but musically invigorating and uplifting. While Granduciel says this is more exposing than anything he’s done before, that isn’t to say this is an album of melancholia.
It’s been three years since the last album, Slave Ambient, but Lost In The Dream picks up perfectly where the prior album left off. It drips with different sounds and the texturing is something magical. For fans of The War On Drugs it has been a long wait but it’s a wait that’s been worth it.
