Can’t make it out to Los Angeles for all the glitz and glamour of Oscar weekend? Don’t fret, events are happening around Philadelphia where you can screen the movies up for the big awards all thanks to the Philadelphia Film Society. It’s slightly the same as being there…you just won’t have a shot at running into the stars or sneaking a peek as they walk down the red carpet.
The Oscar events start on February 28th and will run clear through March 2nd. Friday is the kickoff night over at the Roxy with a screening of Gravity and American Hustle.
March 1st is the documentary showcase. You can catch back to back showings of Cutie and the Boxer (10am), Dirty Wars (11:45am), The Square (1:30pm), Twenty Feet From Stardom (3:45pm) and The Act of Killing (5:30pm). Grab an all day pass for $30 dollars or just catch the movies you need for $11 dollars each.
Sunday the 2nd is the big day! An awards viewing party and reception will hit The Roxy. The event will have live streaming of what’s happening over in California. The reception will include complimentary food and drinks, and Oscar Pool and some commercial break fun. Head on over to the party at 6:30, cost is $40 dollars. Get your tickets now if you haven’t already!
So grab your ball gowns and acceptance speeches and get in on the action presented by the Philadelphia Film Society on Oscar weekend.
