The Driver Era unveils their brand new music video for their track, “Places.” The video was directed by Ross Lynch, assisted by brother Ryland Lynch, and filmed by a long-time collaborator and their cousin, Gordy De St Jeor. The music video stars Rocky and his real-life girlfriend, actress Alex Hopkins.
“‘Places’ is me opening up and becoming honest with myself and with another girl in a relationship, finding new territory and new emotions and not necessarily knowing how to navigate them,” Rocky stated in a recent interview with Dork. “That’s primarily what ‘Places’ is. It’s me opening up and being surprised by the confusion of it.”
The track was written, produced, and recorded by Rocky Lynch while Ross was in Vancouver filming Sabrina. The idea for the video came to him when he was in the car on the way to see his girlfriend. “It’s weird because I typically write songs about past relationships and experiences,” stated Rocky. “But this time, it was about a current relationship.. it was a really weird feeling.”
Since the brothers debuted in 2018 with their first single, “Preacher Man,” they have self-written and produced every track they’ve released, including songs from their 2019 album, X.
