Phone Calls
By: Julia Cirignano
The By Gods- Natalie Pauley, Tye Hammonds and George Pauley- released Phone Calls today. The EP is simple, straight forward rock. Their music is clean, and traditional for the genre, but don’t get me wrong, they are still definitely worth your time. Yes, you have heard rock bands before, but you will want to purchase this album. I promise you.
George Pauley, vocalist/guitarist, is your average rocker. With a red beard and casual dress, you can imagine him at a 9-5 job during the week, but he definitely rocks out on the weekends. Especially during their song “Something Real”, Pauley’s guitar playing sounds like an opening Nirvana riff. Natalie Pauley, the band’s bassist, is a genuine rock-chick with slick black hair, and Tye Hammonds is the pretty-boy of the band, hitting it hard on the drums.
The By Gods’ music is purposefully simple, reminding listeners of ‘90s rock and roll due to Pauley’s deep voice, guitar playing style, and the bands simple, hazy melodies. Coming from Nashville, the By Gods have released their debut album Get On Feelings earlier this year. Fans wanted more, and the band was willing to give it to them.
Also, The By Gods have a Tumblr. ‘Nough said. http://thebygods.tumblr.com
