This Sunday, Northern Liberties gets its very own summer music festival! Since 2008, North 2nd St. has played host annually to the 2nd Street Festival, and this year’s entry promises to be another fine edition of the emerging Philly staple.
On the musical front, the main portion of the festival will feature 29 acts, including a number of ThatMag favorites. In particular, Lovers League, who just released an excellent EP, will play at 5 PM on the 2nd & Germantown Ave. Stage. Rising rapper Milton, whose debut album Simple Pleasures came out in February, will hit the 2nd & Fairmount Ave. Stage at 6:20 PM, along with Philly psych lords DRGN King at 4:20 PM. Also featuring will be Pine Barons, Joey Sweeney & The Long Hair Arkestra, El Caribefunk, and many more.
The 2nd Street Festival will also feature a huge selection of vendors, who will be out all afternoon and evening offering you their wares. Gourmet food, art and clothing will all be represented, with many options to choose from. Food trucks will be plentiful, including Vendy Awards vets The Cow and the Curd, Little Baby’s Ice Cream, Surf and Turf Truck, and Farm Truck Philly. 21+ attendees can indulge in beer and other alcoholic beverages courtesy of Bar Ferdinand, Standard Tap, North Bowl, Gunner’s Run, Jerry’s Bar, Cantina Dos Segundos, El Camino Real, and Bourbon Branch. In addition to all of the great food and drink, the list of clothing, jewelry and art vendors will include DhengiBrand Clothing, Adorned By Aisha, LatinCrafts, Origami Owl, and Urban Princess Boutique.
It will all go down on Sunday, August 3rd, from noon through 10 PM at night. Even if you come at opening and stay until closing, you will likely never run out of things to do, bands to see, food to eat and places to shop. The festival will be held on North 2nd Street, between Germantown and Green Street. Entry is free, so come hang out, check out some music and enjoy your weekend in style!
