On Thursday evening, I was fortunate enough to have been invited to attend the live, virtual showcase of rising Panamanian singer/songwriter, Sofía Valdés. The showcase was in support of her forthcoming Ventura EP, which is due out on February 5.
The growing star began the showcase with a series of photographs of Valdés enjoying life, getting ready with friends, posing for photos, and more. Though it wasn’t a real, in-person concert, the photos gave her viewers a chance to see her as a real human being.
Valdés opened the show with the heartfelt ballad, “Lonely,” a beautiful track that showcased her vocal range and vulnerability. The next song in the set was the beautiful “Little Did I Know,” a song about Sofía singing about a friend or significant other who had gotten into some type of trouble and she had no idea.
The next song was her fun, playful song, “Handful of Water,” followed by “Amsterdam,” and “Oceans Away.”
