Soft Will

Soft Will, the third album release by Smith Westerns, keeps the melodic sounds and heartbreaking riffs of glam rock alive while adding in a nice mix of current pop rock to their songs. Very reminiscent of the 1960’s and 1970’s glam rock era, this album brings it back to life with many songs and adds a nice modern twist to appease those listeners looking for a little something more from the band.
The tracks were a beautiful mix of harmony and melody between vocals and instrumentals. The way the piano, guitar and synthesizer complimented it was very easy to evoke the sense of loneliness that Soft Will seems to embody. While the ten track album has longer tracks, they are easy flowing and times passes effortlessly, leaving you wishing for more of the soulful sounds and emotion invoking lyrics.
The album starts right away with the glam rock vibe of “3am Spiritual”, a psychedelic song that appears to questions one’s belonging in the universe. The album continues into “Idol”, another deep emotion invoking song. But songs like “Fool Proof”, “XXIII” and “Only Natural” encompass the creative mix of glam rock and current pop rock into one track.
Soulful and thought evoking, Soft Will brings plenty to the table for the bands third release and does not disappoint.
