Slow Magic, Giraffage and Daktyl delivered feet stomping, hip shaking sets for their most avid Philly fans at Union Transfer Thursday night.
Daktyl was the first set of the night; a sultry mesh of synth, heavy bass and live instrumentation. What Daktyl lacked in visuals he made up for in musical virtuosity as he mixed in his vocals, keys and guitar live.
Slow Magic turned the crowd into a sea of writhing bodies by the end of his set. Every drum hit from Slow Magic reverberated in the chest and “Girls” made the whole place quake with all the shuffling feet. From beginning to end his set had an energetic happy atmosphere that spread at 120 beats per minute.
Giraffage delivered his unique brand of groove inducing electric tunes as images that you wouldn’t want your mother to catch you watching danced along in the background. Highlights of the set were the R. Kelly “Ignition” remix and the “Party in the USA” cover that got most hands up.
Cheers for an encore were rewarded with a duet finale of Giraffage and Slow Magic. It was ten minutes that gave every fan one last time to lose it for their favorite DJs.
