If you’re looking for some fun tunes that you can jam along to in your car, this is NOT your record. If you like the kind of music that gets airplay at 4 a.m. with lots of synthesizers, then download the track “New Attitude.” It’s an almost eight-minute long opus about lust and sex, which can be comical at points. My problem with this track is that the music doesn’t really go anywhere; it’s kind of just a slow jam that doesn’t really have a beginning or an end.
The rest of the album brings to mind early 80’s synth rock. “Earth to Fuckface” (yeah, that’s the title) has a similar feel to Julian Lennon’s “Too Late for Goodbyes.” “Well on Your Way” sounds like the cheekiest of Paul McCartney songs, and “The Prize” has undertones of Howard Jones influence.
If new wave funk is your thing, then give Ryan Power a listen, he’s got a great voice and clever lyrics, but personally the synths remind me of running water and it makes me have to pee.
