Great things can happen when incredible artists team up to make music together. Making History, the latest EP by RSO (Richie Sambora and Orianthi) is no exception. Released on December 15, 2017, the album consists of five songs that are sure to inspire listeners. It is available for streaming across digital platforms and was produced by the legendary Bob Rock.
Richie Sambora was a founding member and guitarist for Bon Jovi and Orianthi is a guitarist known for performing on Michael Jackson’s “This Is It” tour. Both artists have also released multiple solo albums as well. Earlier this year, the duo released their first EP, Rise. They also released a Christmas track, “One Night of Peace,” and will also release a full-length album in early 2018.
The EP starts off strong with the title track, “Making History”. This song is a power anthem for anyone wanting to stand out in a crowd and make a change. “We Are Magic” keeps the album going strong with a song about friendship and coming together. Even though the rest of the songs are more mellow than the first two, they are just as powerful.
Orianthi and Sambora both share vocals on all of the songs, both of them alternating between the melodies and harmonies. Each song fits their voices perfectly and their voices gel together beautifully. Every song is energetic and passionate, even on the more mellow songs. Their guitar playing also flows nicely, one never overpowering the other. The chemistry between the two artists is evident in every song.
In a time of division and hatred, this album is a perfect mix of talking about unity and inspiring people to go out and make a change in the world. It has something for everyone, from upbeat rock to more mellow songs, all with a message that each person can connect with and appreciate.
