The 16-year-old Canadian singer, Sophie Powers, released her latest single and music video, “Life Goes On.” The song talks about the awkwardness and difficulty of dating as a teenager. She recalls an experience she had with a guy she was meeting up with for the first time that did not go as planned.
“I was so excited to meet up with him, but I got stood up and it was so embarrassing because I saw him a week later on the subway with another girl,” Powers said in a press release. “Talk about awkward.”
Throughout that experience, she was able to pull through and remind herself that life goes on and things will be okay in the end, turning the experience into a song to encourage others in similar situations and that things will get better.
“I’m happy I kept moving forward instead of backward and I hope this song reminds other kids my age the same thing!! Life goes on!!”
The video premiered with Hollywood Life and can be viewed below and the single can be streamed across music platforms.
“Life Goes On” is Powers‘ third single, following “1 Thing” and her debut single, “Lonely Army.” The debut single was written as a response to the loneliness that many felt during lockdowns. Powers hopes her music can help others navigate tough situations.
“Music was my outlet during some really dark times,” Powers said. “If I can be that outlet and help other kids navigate what I went through, that’s all I want as an artist.”
