The rising pop star, YaSi, has shared a new R&B-infused single titled “Guilty.” The single speaks about the fine line between “flirtatious urges” while staying loyal to one’s partner – maybe.
Fans can also check out YaSi‘s accompanying music video as well, see below.
Now, YaSi adds, “To be clear, I don’t condone cheating at all – even hypothetically speaking – but ‘Guilty’ is about that gray area of relationships that makes you wonder, ‘should I be feeling guilty about innocent flirting, and does this make me a bad partner?'” says YaSi on her new single. “I didn’t know how to bring it up to anyone, so we wrote an unfiltered (a lil’ harsh at times) song about it instead.”
“Guilty” is the first track from her upcoming EP, Coexist With Chaos, due out April 2, 2021, via Royal Rhythm Records. This is her first release with the label and it showcases her versatility to be able to sing anything from pop anthems to “politically-relevant” power ballads. Fans can pre-order the EP here.
YaSi, the first-generation American daughter of Persian immigrants, creates songs that teeter the line between Eastern and Western influences. Her EP covers some weightier topics, very much a product of its surrounding environment. On her song, “Inferno,” she finds herself singing in Farsi for the first time. It blends her brand of dark pop music with her own elements of Middle Eastern music.
“I’m not one thing,” she says proudly. “I’m 100% Iranian and 100% American.”
