The rising pop star, Blake Rose, shares his new single, “Rest of Us,” his first for AWAL Recordings, and its accompanying music video.
“Rest of Us” is the follow-up track to the hit track “Gone,” gaining over 7 million streams to date. He recently released a live version of the track prior to the lockdown that has earned more than 500,000 views.
“Rest of Us,” he says is a “middle finger to anyone who doesn’t want you to live your dream.” Blake explains, “A friend of mine wanted to be a musician but his family was not supportive. This took a toll on him and he ended up never pursuing his dream. You hear about stuff like this happening all the time and I think it’s incredibly sad that there are so many people in the world whose art we will never have the chance to discover because some narrow-minded folk decided to steer them away from doing what they love. F*ck those people.”
Blake was born in Australia and now based in Los Angeles, his unique sound is anchored in lush six-string melodies, crafted with a keen sense of artistry. His guitar, he says, “is the driving link between the songs. It’s how I write. Everything starts there.”
