The Resistance Revival Chorus has shared a new single, “Dawn,” featuring Treya Lam is out today via Righteous Babe.
About the song, Lam shares: “In a country that’s legislated against my existence, learning to love myself is an act of resistance. ‘Dawn’ is a call to all who feel burdened by darkness to find and shine their inner light so others feel free to do the same. Before we can change society, we the people must change ourselves.”
The debut album, This Joy, from the Resistance Revival Chorus is out now via Righteous Babe Records. The album features both protest songs and originals and was recorded in New York City with GRAMMY-nominated producer, Tiffany Gouché. What I absolutely love about this record is that it was 100% entirely created by women and non-binary artists. A few special guests include Rhiannon Giddens, Valerie June, and Deva Mahal.
Righteous Babe’s Ani DiFranco says of the Chorus: “The RRC is like an antidote to silence and submission. In this age of division and hopelessness, let us listen to their collective voice and get lifted. Let us remember who we really are.”
The Resistance Revival Chorus is a collective of over 70 women and non-binary singers. Their goal is to join together to deliver joy and song into the resistance, and “to uplift and center women’s voices, especially the voices of Black women and women of color.” The Resistance Revival Chorus was founded in 2017, in the wake of the Women’s March.
