Wordless Wonder

Minneapolis DIY pop punk quartet, Real Numbers, returns with their long-awaited full-length LP, Wordless Wonder via Slumberland Records. It is the bright-eyed, sunny release from a band that comes from a city with an incredibly active music scene, but takes a much different approach further from another famous punk band native to the same city.
On the opening track of “Frank Infatuation,” the four-piece rolls through upbeat, catchy, and clean DIY pop punk that sounds unlike any other band of even close similarity. The track grabs your attention and demands you to listen through to the very end.
With that said, this band isn’t afraid to deliver a solid punch. “Just So Far Away” delivers that uptempo punk that all punk enthusiasts appreciate, but even so slightly toned down for music lovers that aren’t as keen to that vibe, while still being able to appreciate the incredible musicianship put into the track.
The versatility in this band, and record, can be heard in the track “Falling Out,” which takes me back to ’50s and ’60s era music with a fun, summer vacation type of vibe perfect for lounging by the pool, lake, or on the beach.
For the time fans have waited for a proper full-length, Wordless Wonder definitely doesn’t disappoint.
