Coming up on Saturday, July 28th is Radio 104.5’s fourth concert in the Summer Block Party series. The headlining performance will be by Of Monsters and Men, following collaboration band JJAMZ and local musician Tim Williams. These bands are in the midst of putting out new albums, touring, and climbing the music charts!
Of Monsters and Men is an group of six extremely talented friends from Iceland. Their debut studio album, My Head is an Animal, was released in North America on April 3, 2012 and has since peaked at number six on the Billboard charts, making history for Icelandic bands across the globe. Singles from the album such as “Little Talks” and “Dirty Paws” have also broken records and gained a huge fanbase for Of Monsters and Men. They are currently touring the UK and their first stop back in the United States will be at Radio 104.5’s Block Party. Make sure to catch them while they’re here!
JJAMZ is an Los Angeles supergroup consisting of Jason Boesel (Rilo Kiley, Bright Eyes), James Valentine (Maroon 5), Alex Greenwald (Phantom Planet), Michael Runion (solo), and Z Berg (The Like). Their debut album, Suicide Pact, will be released on July 10th through Dangerbird records. Their single, “Heartbeat” has clearly demonstrated how powerful and talented these members truly are. JJAMZ is currently touring with Neon Trees and will be making a solo stop in Philly at 104.5’s Block Party.
Tim Williams is a Philadelphia local. His first EP was released in 2009 and ever since, his popularity has been gaining momentum. He has performed with many well established artists such as Kevin Hearn of the Barenaked Ladies. His next album, Blue Ribbon, is to be released soon. In addition to 104.5’s Block Party, Tim Williams’ CD release show will be held at World Cafe Live on September 26th, and he has many other local shows he has coming up as well.
