The prolific songwriter, Pepper Lewis, is thrilled to share her debut single, “Planetarium,” out today on all DSP’s. The track is an ode to all individuals who are cynical and put walls up to protect themselves.
Based on her own story of growing up and not having anyone to give her dating advice, “the song speaks to trying to open up when you’re used to putting distance between yourself and reality.”
“In the song, the date that I’m on is supposed to take place in a planetarium, while I’m a little bit high, stepping on the guy’s shoes while we’re trying to dance,” says Pepper. “Which is a perfect metaphor for my love life.”
The track is very relatable, as I feel that many women probably deal with some awkwardness during different dating situations.
Pepper is no stranger to pain; she tragically lost her mother to cancer at a young age and was raised by her father single-handedly, who “taught her to make meaning out of suffering.”
