The 2013 Hip Hop Awards run by Urban Celebrity Magazine went off on Sunday at the TLA. Performances from ICH Gang, Summer Valentine, MPrint, Guordan Banks, Yazz The Greatest, Asia Sparks, and K-Dot Da Showstoppa and the annual Cypher Series were the highlights of the evening. Special awards were also given to a few of Philly’s finest influencers to the genre.
Without the leaders of Philly Hip Hop, none of this would be possible- from the awards show to the music itself. Rightfully honored on the evening were the likes of Schoolly D (Philly Hip Hop Legend Award), Gillie Da Kid (Will Smith Award), and E.S.T. (Philly Hip Hop Legend Diamond Award Recipient). It was a true show of culture that these groundbreakers were given their time in the show.
Cyphers: Ever year the most anticipated part of the Philly Hip Hop Awards is their Cypher Series. This year’s were shot at three different locations: Mitchell & Ness, Ruffhouse Records, and Status Shop. What’s your favorite? Comment to cast your vote!

The award winners are listed below, but hopefully this show grows the community and brings more recognition to the scene. Philly does not have a lack of talent and the Hip Hop scene is something that, with a little brotherhood, could become the next national powerhouse. That Mag would like to thank the team for the nomination of Best Magazine!
