Philadelphia-based musician, STEHREO, a.k.a. Adam Stehr, shares his second single, “Better Half,” off his forthcoming album later this year.
“Better Half” is a track from his debut album coming later year via Gramatik‘s Lowtemp imprint label, all the tracks on the album were written, recorded, mixed, and produced solely by Stehr. The single follows his initial single “Chasing Demons,” an indie-rock influenced track. On “Better Half,” Stehr reveals his “sonic interpretation of the impending collapse of the world around him.”
On “Better Half,” he sings about a “looming presence just outside his periphery, becoming lost in his own delusions, and the need for release.”
“Ultimately, this is a song of internal and external disconnection that grapples with the need for confidence without egotism and survival without insanity,” Stehr explains. “However, at its center, there is a calm heart that dances through the rain with eyes open.”
Stehr is a Pennsylvania native who has traveled the world performing nearly every music genre from folk and rock to blues and EDM. Currently, he is based in Philadelphia.
“My primary goal in releasing these songs is simply to affect people. I hope that the music can help someone get through their day or even just smile for a moment, dance with their coworkers, do something nice for a stranger, or even cry a little. I feel very fortunate to be in a position to create music and Iʼd like to share it with people in a way that is relatable. Art and love are two things that we as humans have yet to fully explain and understand. How can something so simple make us feel such intense emotions? Because it is not simple at all. Itʼs non-binary and complex. For me, music is magic.” –– Adam Stehr, artist
