Singer/songwriter, Patrick Droney, unveils his version of Mariah Carey‘s celebrated holiday classic, “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” as part of the 3rd annual Spotify Singles: Holiday Collection.
This year’s collection includes 12 new songs from Julien Baker, Sasha Sloan, Betty Who, and Dashboard Confessional, plus any artists who may have recorded in years past including John Legend, Norah Jones, Miley Cyrus, Kelly Clarkson, Sam Smith, and Demi Lovato.
Droney states, “Mariah Carey pulled off an incredible feat writing ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ – a recording that has been an enduring staple from both a traditional and commercial standpoint. It’s an incredibly crafted pop song that also conjures the intimate sentiment of wanting to be with the one you love. I wanted to hone in on that intention and set it over a half time groove to really lean into that soulfulness. It was a blast to rearrange while staying true to the original elements. The freedom to have grand moments as holiday songs do allow for some special musical conversations and I couldn’t have had more fun.”
The self-produced cover comes on the heels of Droney‘s recently released EP, State Of The Heart.
