Deluxe

You may have heard Omni’s lead-in single “Afterlife” which appears as the first track on Deluxe. Omni is a pop band with a ‘70’s rock sound, consisting of singer and bassist Philip Frobos, guitarist Frankie Broyles, and drummer Billy Mitchell.
Deluxe has a familiar musical sound that comes from a traditional three-piece set of guitar, bass, and drums. Frobo’s voice gives listeners the idea that they’re a bell-bottom pants type of band with long hair, retro sunglasses, and leather jackets. But they’re not. Omni is a rather down to earth band typically seen in rather casual clothing, and emulating a relaxed vibe. The trio combines their musical backgrounds to create their sound. Broyles takes what he learned from his former band Deerhunter, while Frobos and Mitchell take what they learned from their former band Carnivores.
Neither Deerhunter nor Carnivores sounds like Omni, though. These three musicians have toned down their sound to create Deluxe. Frobos and Mitchell especially have stepped back from their punk rock past to explore a far more fragile art. Not only their lyrics, but their new musical sound has far more soul and emotion than their past projects.
