The indie electronic duo, TEMPERS, share their new single, “The Use of My Belonging.” The single was recorded across their bedrooms during quarantine and the rise of Black Lives Matter protests.
“Watching inequalities intensify to unethical extremes, as systems of power swerve into nightmarish realms of greed, brutality and oppression inspired the song,” explains Tempers’ Jasmine Golestaneh and Eddie Cooper. “The song is about the hope that love will prevail in an era of post-truth, that the return to love is somehow natural and inevitable.”
Over the years, Tempers has explored genres and carved out their own sound through electronic, indie, and synth-pop. Their sound is about “exploring tonal and emotional tension as much as it is about actual tracks or singular moments.”
I love the way the duo is able to blend various genres and meld them so well that it creates their own unique sound. It’s a chill song, one that reminds me of late-night drives on the highway. Take a look at the video for “The Use of My Belonging” below.
