The award-winning Nigerian superstar, Yemi Alade, shares a new track titled “Boyz.” Her most recent previous work was her contribution to two tracks on Beyonce‘s The Lion King companion album.
The song is uptempo Afropop from frequent collaborator, Vtek, and is the first new material from Alade this year. The track is taken from her upcoming fifth LP. The music video for the track will be released “imminently.”
Determined to have a breakthrough year in the U.S., Alade is an artist, actress, and entertainer of Yoruba and Igbo descent, and has previously released four albums: 2014’s King of Queens (the track “Johnny” catapulted her to global fame and reached over 100 million views on YouTube), 2016’s Mama Africa (The Diary of an African Woman), 2017’s Black Magic, and her most recent release, 2019’s Woman of Steel.
Alade’s breakout single “Johnny” made her the first African female artist to garner over 100 million views on YouTube and Vevo. “Johnny” is the most viewed video by an African female artist ever.
