Mr. Elevator (and the Brain Hotel) celebrate the ’60s with their take on psychedelic pop rock on their latest record, When The Morning Greets You With a Smile.
When The Morning is a 13-track collection of catchy, organ-driven psych-pop that’s bound to make your day even sunnier! The title track opens with a catchy drum and bass line that leads into the organ. This glorious combination creates the catchy melody that is the happy, cheerful track, “When The Morning Greets You With a Smile.”
The band really builds a foundation on creating catchy, upbeat psych-pop songs, like on the track “Madeline.” It’s a cheerful song that opens with birds whistling to a fun melody that’ll force you to be happy and smile.
There are songs on the record where Mr. Elevator channels strictly psychedelic rock. Songs like “Are You Hypnotized” and “Cosmic Bloom” have that spacey, free spirited vibe of the 1960s. Both tracks feature some great bass lines that really bind everything together to create a cohesive song.
The instrumental track, “Tears of Green,” highlights the band’s musicianship and is a cohesive piece that pulls together the album’s best aspects into a single song.
Overall, this album is a catchy set of psych pop that delights the ears. It’s bound to put a smile on your face and in your heart upon listening.
