The crowd was sparse at the show with Miniature Tigers, Finish Ticket and The Griswolds, but they gave their Philly fans a performance worthy of a packed, sold out crowd at Union Transfer Friday night.
Finish Ticket, a six piece from San Francisco, opened with a fun, high energy set that would set the tone for the evening. Their set consisted of songs off their first major label release Tears You Apart such as “Bring the Rain” and “Doctor”. They also did a cover of The Killers’ “When You Were Young.”
The Griswolds, a four piece from Sydney, Australia, went on next. Their poppy sound and off beat lyrics had the crowd bobbing along. “Beware of the Dog” off their soon to be released album, Be Impressive, is a perfect representation of their sound. It’s up-tempo and happy rhythmically, but the lyrics are dark in contrast with a chorus like “We use to joke and it felt like home but now you’re fucking crazy.”
Miniature Tigers closed out the show with a set that they enjoyed as much as the crowd did. The fans danced from beginning to end. When it was all over and Miniature Tigers left the stage, the crowd cheered until they came out for an encore. The band’s fans then got on stage and danced. The whole night was a blast. If any of these bands are in town again, one thing I can guarantee is the show will be fun.
