Before I say another word about this record, stop what you’re doing, surf the interwebs to your favorite online record store and download “Zita” from Matt Mays’ album, Coyote. Go ahead, this can wait.
K, Back? Got it? Love it?! Welcome to my world for the past week.
I was getting ready write the album off as pretty generic, until “Zita” took me by surprise when my iPod was on shuffle one day, so I gave Coyote another listen.
Coyote is a good old fashioned rock album with great Americana roots which is funny considering Mays calls Canada home. Sometimes the album has a funky Beck feel with the tune “Madre Padre” then turns around and goes totally Beatles on you. You know what, just go back and download the rest of the album now as well.
