Serpentine Prison, the highly-anticipated solo album from Matt Berninger, frontman of The National, is out today via Book’s Records. The record was produced by famed Memphis musician, Booker T. Jones. Book’s Records is a new imprint formed by Berninger and Jones with Concord Records. Sean O’Brien also provided additional production on the album.
Berninger will be performing songs from Serpentine Prison tomorrow on CBS‘ This Morning: Saturday and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on October 22.
Berninger also brought on several collaborators to perform with him on Serpentine Prison including Andrew Bird, Mike Brewer, Hayden Desser, Scott Devendorf (The National), Teddy Jones, Brent Knopf (EL VY, Menomena), Matt Sheehy (EL VY, Lost Lander), and Harrison Whitford (Phoebe Bridgers).
