The long-awaiting album, Music Is The Weapon, from EDM trio, Major Lazer, is scheduled for release on October 23. Additionally, the trio will perform a list of socially-distanced, drive-in concerts in Houston, Atlanta, Charlotte, and more next summer. Tickets for the drive-in tour go on sale on October 2.
The three-piece also plans to release a comic book titled Major Lazer: Your Negative One. It was created by longtime collaborator, Ferry Gouw, the original creator of the Major Lazer character, and written by Alex De Campi.
Today they premiere the Music Is The Weapon Spotify enhanced album playlist, which features 50 tracks that inspired the creation of the album curated by Major Lazer.
Music Is The Weapon is the trio’s first full-length since 2015. The record will also feature unreleased tracks including “Oh My Gawd” with Mr. Eazi featuring Nicki Minaj and K4mo, “Lay Your Head On Me,” featuring Marcus Mumford.
Major Lazer is the global dance trio of Diplo, Walshy Fire and Ape Drums. The group was named for the group’s fictional leader, a one-armed Jamaican Zombie War commando. Major Lazer’s mission is to free the universe with music. The trio has released three albums: 2009’s Guns Don’t Kill People…Lazers Do, 2013’s Free The Universe and 2015’s Peace Is The Mission, featuring “Lean On” with DJ Snake and MØ.
