Surrender to the Fantasy

Magik Marker’s newest album in their lineup, Surrender to the Fantasty, is very much an experimental piece. The album is filled with do it yourself sounds and some of the items used to create the sounds lead to an almost far too loud sound in many of the tracks.
The album starts and ends strong with “Creb”, a more dance geared grooved, and “WT” a fierce song that is a testament more to rock and roll than the experimental sounds in the other tracks. “Mirrorless” is another strong track as it flows and has a softer, more mellow feel than the others with a less harsh sound. While most of the lyrics seem to just be quirky, “American Sphinx Face” is decidedly political and reflective of negative feelings. A strange mix on the album as it appears to have a deeper meaning but overall adds something to the otherwise dull messages in the songs.
