Low Cut Connie frontman and Philadelphia native Adam Weiner is not just your typical lead singer; he is a man of many talents ranging from songwriter to pianist and is also the only original member of the band since its formation in 2010. They are set to bring their high-energy show to the Fillmore tonight at 8:00 p.m.
Low Cut Connie is a name that you should get used to hearing with not only their talent but with recognition from Elton John to Barack Obama and Bruce Springsteen just to name a few. Elton John shouted them out at his last concert here in Philadelphia telling everyone to go buy their records, and I now understand why. They are in a league of their own.
Recently, Low Cut Connie just released a new album titled “Private Lives,” which caught the attention and praise of many throughout the airwaves such as Rolling Stone, NPR Music, and Spin Magazine who included them in the Top 50 rock bands right now.
NPR’s Fresh Air stated that “Like Bruce Springsteen, after he discovered literature, Weiner started bending classic rock to meet his ever more complex emotionalism. The result is that this new 17-track collection, Private Lives, is Adam Weiner’s version of Born to Run, filled with songs about losers and lovers and beautiful dreamers.”
They also recently appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’s #PlayAtHome series playing the “Private Lives” track, “Help Me.” It’s a wonderful preview of what the entire album holds. This song has me tapping my toe from the very first note. It is a wonderfully orchestrated arrangement with the start of keys, some backup vocals, and how Adam dives into the lyrics with such passion and energy and unique sound.
Weiner began playing piano and karaoke bars and toured throughout North America under the name ladyfingers. Weiner‘s artistry, however, in Low Cut Connie is truly unmatched. I highly encourage anyone to go out and see them especially if you like real rock n’ roll. It will be a show that you will be glad you didn’t miss.
“I can’t wait to see all our Philly pals out there, beaming out all their joys and fears frustrations, and desires from behind their masks,” Weiner stated. “It’s gonna be a wild one.”
